KNOW ABOUT WIMBORNE

Wimborne Minster (often referred to locally as Wimborne) is a market town in the East Dorset district of Dorset in South West England, and the name of the Church of England church in that town. The central town has a population of 6,418 (according to the 2001 Census) and is situated at the confluence of the River Stour and River Allen, five miles north of Poole. The twin towers of the Minster Church of St Cuthburga dominate Wimborne’s skyline. The church houses a unique Chained Library, the colourful Quarterjack and an unusual astronomical clock. Grand celebrations will be afoot in 2005 when the Minster celebrates its 1300th birthday! The captivating model town, which depicts Wimborne in the 1950s, provides hours of fun for children and adults alike, as they compare the tiny buildings to those in the town today. Only 1½ hours drive from London, Wimborne is the ideal destination for that much needed holiday or short break.
